Connect Telegram
Telegram posts through a bot you create and then add to your channel as an administrator. Both halves matter — a bot that is not an admin cannot post.
You create a key, token or app password on the network yourself, then paste it into a short form here.
Before you start
- A Telegram account.
- A channel you administer.
- A bot token from @BotFather.
Step by step
- 1Create a bot
In Telegram, message @BotFather and send /newbot. Give it a name and a username ending in bot.
- 2Copy the token
BotFather replies with a long token that looks like 123456789:AAH... Copy the whole thing, including the numbers before the colon.
- 3Add the bot to your channel as an admin
Open the channel, then Administrators, then Add Administrator, and pick your bot. Leave Post Messages switched on. This step is what most people miss.
- 4Connect in Social Publish
Go to Accounts, press Connect Account, choose Telegram, then paste the token and the channel — for example @mychannel.
If something goes wrong
The channel name is wrong, or the channel is private. Public channels use @name. A private channel needs its numeric chat id instead.
The bot was never added to the channel, or was added as a normal member. Add it as an administrator with Post Messages on.
Part of the token was cut off when copying. Copy the entire line BotFather sent, colon included.
