Connect Mastodon

Available now Sign in on the network

Mastodon is many independent servers rather than one site, so we need to know which server your account lives on before we can send you there to sign in.

2 things to prepare 4 steps
Connect Mastodon

A window opens on the network's own site. You sign in there and approve access — nothing to copy or paste.

Before you start

  • An account on any Mastodon server.
  • The server's address, for example mastodon.social.

Step by step

  1. 1
    Find your server address

It is the part of your handle after the second @. If you are @[email protected], your server is mastodon.social.

  2. 2
    Open Accounts

In Social Publish, go to Accounts, press Connect Account, and choose Mastodon.

  3. 3
    Type the server address

Enter it without https:// and without a trailing slash — just mastodon.social.

  4. 4
    Sign in and authorise

Your server's own sign-in page opens. Approve read and write access.

If something goes wrong

The server cannot be found.

Remove https:// and any trailing slash, and check the spelling. Only the bare address is accepted.

A post is rejected as too long.

Most servers allow 500 characters, but each server sets its own limit and some are lower.
