Connect Bluesky

Available now Paste a key you create

Bluesky uses an app password — a throwaway password you create for one tool. Never paste your main Bluesky password here.

3 things to prepare 4 steps
Connect Bluesky

You create a key, token or app password on the network yourself, then paste it into a short form here.

Before you start

  • A Bluesky account.
  • Your full handle, for example alice.bsky.social.
  • An app password created for Social Publish.

Step by step

  1. 1
    Create an app password

In Bluesky: Settings, then Privacy and Security, then App Passwords, then Add App Password. Name it Social Publish.

  2. 2
    Copy it straight away

Bluesky shows the password once. Copy it before closing the box — you cannot read it again, only delete it and make a new one.

  3. 3
    Open Accounts

In Social Publish, go to Accounts, press Connect Account, and choose Bluesky.

  4. 4
Paste the handle and app password

Enter your full handle including the .bsky.social part, then the app password. Press Connect.

If something goes wrong

Sign-in fails even though the password is right.

You almost certainly used your main password. Bluesky only accepts an app password here.

It worked and then stopped.

The app password was deleted in Bluesky's settings. Create a new one and reconnect.

The handle is not recognised.

Use the full handle — alice.bsky.social, not alice.
